Rangers Recall Kris Newbury

New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that forward Kris Newbury has been recalled from the Connecticut Whale of the American Hockey League (AHL).

Newbury, 28, registered three points in two games this past weekend, including a two-point performance in a 4-1 win at Providence on Sunday (one goal, one assist). He has recorded eight goals and 33 assists for 41 points, along with 98 penalty minutes in 49 games with Connecticut this season. Newbury leads the team and ranks seventh in the AHL in assists, ranks second on the Whale in points and fourth in penalty minutes.

He has registered a team-high, 11 multi-point performances this season, including two separate streaks of three games with multiple points - November 13 vs. Springfield to November 19 at Springfield (six assists), and December 3 at Providence to December 11 vs. Manchester (one goal, six assists).

The 5-11, 213-pounder established a career-high with an eight-game assist streak from November 28 vs. Adirondack to December 17 vs. Worcester, recording three goals and 12 assists over the span.

Newbury returns to the Rangers where he has registered one assist and 35 penalty minutes in eight games this season. He made his Rangers debut at Montreal on January 15, and recorded his first point as a Ranger with the primary assist on the game-tying goal in a 3-2 shootout win at Atlanta on January 22.

The Brampton, Ontario native was originally San Jose’s fifth round pick, 139th overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. He was acquired by the Rangers from Detroit in exchange for forward Jordan Owens on March 3, 2010.

against shelly and carcillo? I think he'll be ok. Shelly should beat prust in a fight and avery, carcillo should be a good one. I expect richards and duby to go, they usually have one a year

haha, looks like the rags are running scared with the Flyers in sunday. How is newbury gonna keep Shelley from pounding prust. Maybe he will jump on his back, that's how it's done in the garden. It's going to be interesting to see if prust takes a dive, has he at least learned to spin in the right direction when he flops on the ice. Can't wait for this one.

newbury was called up because wolski is hurt. wolski should be back by sunday, so i doubt newbury will be in the lineup.

i doubt prust fights shelley, why would he?

He was called up tonight to face a tough Kings' team. After that it is a few soft teams on the schedule and there will be no need for any toughness.Shelley turns down fights all the time so there is no reason to accommodate him and Lavi is not about to send his team out to goon it up just because Avery sent Carle down with a thunderous right in the last game.

Right now the Kings are fighting eachother and the winner gets to pad there win/loss ratio with a fight against Newbury.

Can you bring some actual intelligence or insight to this site please next time? Your teenage-ness is glaring through. Thanks.

Should I reply with something like this:

"**** those Flyers *******! Rangers will make you their bitches dog!"

And the gauntlet has been thrown.

Yeah, Shelley will throw his back out turning away from a punch in the fight. Your fighters are jokes this year.
Not to worry, you have your undefeated MW in Carcillo, so he will beat the entire Ranger team right?
