Rangers Call up Kolarik and Dupont

The Rangers summoned Chad Kolarik from the AHL during last night’s game to replace Brandon Dubinsky, and were forced to make another move when Ruslan Fedotenko sprained his left shoulder at 9:24 of the second period after a hard shoulder check from Leafs defenseman Mike Komisarek. He will miss two to four weeks and coach John Tortorella said Brodie Dupont also would join the team for the road trip to Carolina and Atlanta.


Dubinsky was lost to a stress fracture in his left leg for three to four weeks.Kolarik, 24, a right wing/center who played on a line with the Canadiens’ Max Pacioretty in his senior year at the University of Michigan, when he scored 30 goals, was acquired from Columbus for Dane Byers on Nov. 11.


Described as a great skater who can finish, the 5-11, 175 pound Kolarik was 13-10-23 for Springfield and was 17-16-33 in 26 games for the Whale.


The Abington, PA, native was drafted 199th overall by Phoenix in 2004 and signed a three-year entry level contract with the Coyotes on April 13, 2008. When he was acquired by Columbus in March, he was tied for second on the San Antonio Rampage in goals and is fifth in points. He had registered 37-48-85 and 88 penalty minutes in 135 career AHL games.


If Kolarik and Dupont play, they would be the seventh and eighth rookies to debut for the Rangers this season. Dupont, a 23 year old Manitoba native, is a 6-foot-3 center. He is 8-12-20 in 40 games for the Whale.

god the rangers are getting killed with injuries now. dupont sucks at hockey and he fights but sucks at that too. kolarik will probly get the start over him, but you never know. the rangers need to start getting some guys back or the playoffs could become a difficult task.

thank god, Orr might be the only enforcer that goes around like a mad man through out the game.. Torts told the rangers don't fight him, I was scared of Orrsy. Quote from Torts...we really need to call up a legit fighter or trade for someone. Weise is a Voros in the making.. Newbury is good but hes a light middle weight at best.
