Although I would be surprised if a fight between the two ever occured, "Chara" was the first thing that popped in my mind when I heard about this trade.

Just the idea that Scott is a Ranger property HAS to make the Rangers skate a little bit taller going into Boston. He is something of an old school "nuclear deterrent", if you will.

I don't think they acquired him to counter Mac, because Mac hasn't played against the Rangers yet, and I don't think the Pens planned on playing him against the Rangers in the last two regular season games, let alone if they meet in the playoffs. That might change now.

He's not adverse to a good scrap and using muscle!
Do you still have the same view (rant) that players like Scott and Sestito are worthless goons that are ruining the league?

I don't see John Scott in the same bracket as Sestito, Sestito runs around shouting his mouth trying to start sh!t, John Scott is the opposite, he won't fight unless he has to, good enforcer, no the best of players but does a job and skates ok for a big man.

I'm pleased we have him, just hope we use him.

This is great for Rangers. They are probably the toughest team in the nhl now.

And you don't like this because it leads to more fights during the game, Bettman loves a-holes like you, make his anti-fighting and anti-hitting agenda look better. Go watch the disney channel Nancy, apparently the NHL is too violent for you. Where do these nitwits come from?

Frankly I have never seen Scott play so I have no clue. I just watched around 10 of his fights thanks to this site so it looks like he can handle his dukes but I have no clue what type of player that he is!
Based on your comments, I'm assuming that he sucks. I'd have to watch him first and then I'll give an opinion.
When I saw the news that they acquired John Scott, I was like who the hell is John Scott? Was he a skilled defenseman or a rugged defenseman? I didn't even know who he played with.
Now I've watched a bunch of his fights and he looks to be a good fighter but I need to watch him play!
I've watched Bickel and he has some skills and has played pretty solid for a career AHL player. He's not just a goon who can't play and is better than I thought that he would be. Do I want Michael Sauer back-in a heartbeat but Bickel has done the job and allowed 20 year old Tim Erixon to gain valuable experience in Connecticut!
Bickel also plays the game and will fight in the flow of the game. He hasn't been one of these guys who can't do a thing and just looks to fight with no rhyme or reason!
Is this Scott guy like that, I have no clue and need to watch him play!
I don't come on this site to just watch clips of fights unless I missed a Rangers fight. It's why I had no idea who Scott was. I log on and go right to the forums and don't go into the video fights section! I'm also not one of those guys who owns 9 million fight tapes and sits in a dark room watching them.

I don't think the two are really comparable either. Sestito right now is young and is a better hockey player than Scott, while still having a ton of potential to grow as a player. Scott is obviously the better fighter. Scott is usually shouting his mouth off in the media, it's not a stretch to assume he does it on the ice as well (he f*cking should, anyways). Both players have sub-par fight cards considering their size and the type of game they play, Scott moreso since he is an absolute monster. Sestito can at least fall back on being a semi-decent player in the making, Scott doesn't have the luxury of using that as an excuse.

I'm just glad he's out of Chicago and on a team that will hopefully give him some minutes so he can really show what he's got against the leagues' best on a consistent basis. If Torts doesn't dress him on the regular I will be pissed.

BigJack often rants about how players like Scott are bad for the league and worthless, which is why people will poke fun at him now as he scrambles to come up with excuses and not look like a homer. It will certainly be interesting to see who's opinions change now when it comes to Scott.

Thanks for that feedback!
I was wondering is this Scott guy an idiot like Sestito or a guy who plays and fights when it comes to him or to deal with a teammate being hit!
Based on his penalty minutes that I looked at before, he doesn't appear to be the moron goon type but need to observe him.

Scott shows an amazing amount of restraint for the type of player he's supposed to be.
He was incredibly liked by his teammates in Chicago, and by most (smart) fans who saw him as a player and not just a goon. He is by no means a great player, but hes also not a liability on the ice. He can play wing or that 6/7 defenseman if necessary.. rarely takes bad penalties and can spark a team with a good fight.
