Raffi Torres Suspended Indefinitely, Pending a Hearing

NEW YORK -- Phoenix Coyotes forward Raffi Torres has been suspended indefinitely, pending an in-person hearing Friday, April 20, the National Hockey League's Department of Player Safety announced today. The hearing, which had been planned for today, was deferred at the request of the player and the National Hockey League Players' Association.

The hearing will be convened at the NHL's New York office for a hit Torres delivered to Chicago forward Marian Hossa 12:42 into the first period of Game 3 of the teams' Western Conference Quarterfinal series in Chicago on Tuesday, April 17.

94 games.

I mean, why not, Shanahan is not making any focking sense with the other discipline so why not just pull a number out of a god damn hat!

He is a repeat offender, based on that, I say 5-10 games.

I don't think the hit is worth that, and with Shanahan's inconsistency, who knows where this will end up.

Neal is a repeat offender and got 1 game for 2 hits. One hit was very similar to Torres hit. as MikeBFlorida said it should be interesting to see what BS pulls out of his ass on this one.

This is starting to get ridiculous now. There really is no consistency on any of these suspensions. Inconsistent factors such as who the player is, if there was an injury, and who bitches the most impacts these suspensions. That is not right and could impact who wins the cup and that pisses me off. The NHL office needs to grow a pair and start calling these things straight up. Checking is still allowed and some of these players have their heads up their a$$ and often go into corners looking to take a hit from behind. The game is physical and injuries occur. I can't stand the whining any longer!

as far as Torres goes he's a dirtbag, and will get suspended. IMO should only be a game or two. Man up Chicago and look to hit some of there star players, it's pretty simple.

The "suspended indefinately" is sure tip-off that Shanahan is going to throw the book at him, bigtime! The rest of the playoffs, plus some games into next season i think. While its not as bad as Brown/Sandstrom,Hunter/Turgeon,Hunter/Janney; Torres is a major repeat offender with the cheap sh*t. I hate to agree with a Tampa fan,but yea,94 games would be proper punishment. Hell, league banishment would be o.k. for this headhunting punk.

Looking at this hit and Neal's hit on Couturier the Neal hit is worse EXCEPT for the fact Hossa went out on a stretcher. Neals feet were both off the ground when he delivered his hit but Torres one foot just started to leave the ice as he was making contact with Hossa.

The fact that Hossa left on a stretcher and was taken to hospital puts this at 5 games min.

Based on these playoffs, media backlash, repeat offender, and severity of injury. Torres is done for these playoffs and 8 games or more next year.

Shanahan has a guy who committed a clear cut foul. A hit that the NHL is clearly trying to eliminate. Torres will be made an example of. Book it.

Shanahan is a moron. He will hand out more games based on injury which is ridiculous. I can see him making this a big suspension since this first round of the playoffs has been getting out of hand (in the NHL's eyes) with hits and fights and I'm sure the NHL wants to reel in the players a bit.

Maybee. It's. just me. But stop F&$)( around and let the guys police themselves like it used to be .. And there wouldn't be half of these injuries or suspensions. "you hit our guy your gonna get your AZZ handed to you by our enforcer"!.
It's pretty simple ehhh?
