Radek Dvorak Inks Two-Year Deal With Panthers

SUNRISE, Fla. – Florida Panthers General Manager and Head Coach Jacques Martin announced today that the club has agreed to terms on a two-year contract with RW Radek Dvorak.

Dvorak, 30, is a former member of the of the 1996 Panthers team that won the Eastern Conference Championship and advanced to the Stanley Cup Finals. He spent his first five NHL seasons with the Panthers playing in 336 games recording 162 points (69-93-162). Dvorak again reached the Stanley Cup Finals for the second time in his career in 2006 while playing for the Edmonton Oilers.

“Radek brings to our club a tremendous amount of veteran leadership having played in more than 800 games, while advancing to the Stanley Cup Finals twice,” said Martin. “He is a hard working and focused player who plays well at both ends of the ice. We are confident that Radek is the type of player that will fit into our line-up well and play a pivotal role in bringing continued success and stability to our organization.”

The Tabor, Czech Republic native has appeared in 828 games during his 12-year career with four different teams (Florida, NY Rangers, Edmonton, St. Louis) scoring 171 goals and 278 assists. Last season with St. Louis, he played in all 82 games recording 10 goals and 27 assists.

Dvorak was originally draft by Florida with the 10th overall pick in the 1995 NHL Entry Draft.

what is Florida doing? Don't they have all these young forwards like Horton, Weiss, Stewart, Olesz, etc.

yet they sign Zednik, Dvorak, and McLean?

well, out of those, they know they have one puck hog that will not hesitate to shoot the f'n puck at the net in Zednik... if he manages to hit the damn thing.
