Predators Sign Forward Ian McKenzie

Nashville, Tenn. – Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has signed amateur free-agent forward Ian McKenzie.

McKenzie, 20 (5/23/87), spent the last four full seasons in Western Hockey League playing 228 games with the Moose Jaw Warriors (2004-07) and the Seattle Thunderbirds (2007-08). In 2007-08 with Seattle, the Weyburn, Sask., native nearly doubled his career high in points, registering 19 goals and 21 assists to go along with 103 penalty minutes in 68 games. The 6-4, 222-pound right wing also led the Thunderbirds in playoff scoring with 14 points (8g-6a) in 12 games.

Finally was playing to potential in the last 20-30 games of his whl career. Hits like a mack truck and has decent hand around the net. Skates pretty well for a big man. Only down fall is lack of heart. Seems unwilling at times to drop the gloves. Put Garet Hunt's heart in Ian Mckenzies body and you have the next NHL champ.
