Predators Recall Sheldon Brookbank; Place Tootoo on IR
Nashville, Tenn. – Nashville Predators Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Sheldon Brookbank (SHEHL-dohn BRUK-bank) from the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.

Brookbank, 26, (10/3/80), leads AHL defensemen in scoring with 36 points (9g-27a) in 51 games this season and has posted 110 penalty minutes. The 6-2, 200-pound blueliner, who was a member of the Canadian team at the 2007 AHL All-Star Game last week, led the Admirals in penalty minutes (232) and ranked second among team backliners in scoring (9g-26a-35pts) in 2005-06. The Lanigan, Sask. native was originally signed as a free agent by Nashville on August 4, 2005.

Nashville has placed forward Jordin Tootoo on injured reserve.

Sucks that 22 will be out a few weeks

I also heard Weber may be out a week... and the club has gone much of the season with only 6 d-men. It won't hurt having an extra body on defense(the fact that he'll drop the gloves doesn't hurt either).

dont follow AHL besides bridgeport so i dont know but it sounds like it

Very nice replacement. I dont know why he isnt an NHL regular, he is certainly good enough.

Good for the Preds. Sad that Tootoo's hurt, but glad they replaced him with Brookbank.

Is he any relation to Wade? I'm almost positive I'd heard they were either brothers or cousins, but I'm not sure.

He was brought up more as added protection for guys like Timonen & Zidlicky and also someone to help keep guys away from taking liberties at our goalies. And with Weber out a couple games, we really don't have any "tough" d-men out there.

what happened to tootoo? also, i hope he can stay up when tootoo comes back seeing as how they don't play the same position.
