He and 22 sure played as if they hated the other...now they'll have to get along.

And I will have to learn to tolerate SOB now that he's one of the good guys.

Side note: His first game with the team should be this SAT...against the Ducks, ironically.

I'm glad to see another team had some interest in O'Brien after the news he was getting waived by Vancouver. I really hope the Preds have a fairly set roster spot for the guy.

SO needs to figure out that he is a 5th or 6th dman real quick and do the simple things like hit, clear the front of the net and DROP the mitts occasionaly and yeah finish checks and he will avoid MILWUAKEE.

Good luck to O'Brien - for his sake, he better keep his off-ice life on the straight and narrow, keep his weight down, stay motivated, and play with brains as well as more passion. He seemed totally unprepared for camp this season and as a result he lost his job to Andrew Alberts.

In a non-cap world, SOB would still be on the Canucks as a 7th d-man - but Aaron Rome comes a lot cheaper and economically, it just made sense and became necessary to make a move like this.

I like O'Brien, but he lost his job to a more competitive player and the fact that he continues to struggles with balancing his on and off ice personas, physical play and discipline, made him expendable this fall. Its nice to get something back for him, but I doubt we'll ever see Parent in a Canucks uniform, unless injuries strike hard again this season - but still - its a damn shame because SOB has come a LOOOOOOONNNNNGGG way from where he was 2 or 3 years ago as a hockey player....seems like such a waste.....

He's an ok rugged type backliner so good the Predators need a little bit more toughness.

Right now, he is the 6th since the Preds have reportedly put Sulzer on waivers with Belak back on the blueline right now at 7. Lundmark is teetering at the 14th forward and two gaolies.

That's 23.

The Preds have alot of potential to be a tough exciting team to watch with Belak, Tootoo, Weber, O'brien but Trotz needs to take the cuffs off and let them have some fun.

Hope O'Brien does well. I have always liked him as a player. Tough as nails and no nonsense.

Great pickup by the Preds, as they benefit from the Canucks embarrassment of riches and snatch a guy that likely would not have sniffed the waiver wire on most clubs. The Predators are somewhat like the Steelers in the respect that they always seem to churn out great defensemen no matter what - whereas the Steelers always have the best linebacker core around. As a Minny fan, the Wild certainly have benefitted from the Predators defensive stylings, picking up a guy in Zanon that I believe is one the most underated dmen in the league, and Zidlicky to a lesser extent.

The Preds have one of, if not the, best in the league in Shea Weber, and this siging should bolster what is already a pretty decent blueline. I was actually hoping that the Wild would make a move for O'Brien, as we have always lacked muscle and grit on the blueline (since the departure of Mitchell), and although he hasn't been as inclined to drops the mits lately, he has become a better defensemen, contributing in the points category and being a plus player. Good move Nashville.

I'm not too worried about SOB getting his off-ice life in check...Trotz has a reputation for not putting up with attitudes and bull****. O'Brien will be whipped into shape or sent down...No nonsense when it comes to attitudes here in Nashville. Trotz told that to S. Kostitsyn and I'm sure he's giving the same spill to SOB.

Either way, I'm pumped to see him play on Saturday. Hopefully he will drop the gloves, stir up some trouble.

If the defense is too light it means problems, but if defense is too big it means also problems.
Have to be a mix of both and looks like Nashvilles defense is on good balance/mix.
Zidlicky, Weber, Mittchell and now O'Brien.
