Predators Acquire Scott Ford from Blues for Jani Lajunen

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Nashville Predators President of Hockey Operations/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has acquired defenseman Scott Ford from the St. Louis Blues for forward Jani Lajunen. Ford will report to the Predators primary developmental affiliate, the American Hockey League’s Milwaukee Admirals, where he played from 2008-12, serving as the Admirals captain in 2011-12.

Ford, 33 (12/24/79), posted six points (2g-4a) and 54 penalty minutes while serving as captain for the AHL’s Peoria Rivermen in 2012-13. In 423 career AHL games since 2004, the Fort St. John, B.C., native tallied 56 points (15g-41a) and 650 penalty minutes. In four seasons with the Admirals starting in 2008-09, he registered 36 points (11g-25a) and 465 penalty minutes in 279 games.

The 6-3, 216-pound blueliner played 118 games during a four-year career at Brown University, posting 47 points (15g-32a). He captained the Brown Bears during his senior season in 2003-04, and was a 2004 First Team All-Ivy selection and winner of the 2004 ECAC Best Defensive Defenseman Award.

Not sure what the point of this is. Does Milwaukee need toughness? I would love if the Preds used him but I don't see that happening.

Lajunen sounds like your basic euro-floater. I liked Ford on Peoria.

Yes.

Jani had flashes, but he's not making it up from what I've seen when you look at the whole body of work.

Maybe Peoria doesn't like the lunch pail approach Fordo brings or maybe he wasn't happy playing in that turd hole.

Glad to have him back.
