Pierre-Luc Letourneau-LeBlond Suspended One Game
NEW YORK – New Jersey Devils forward Pierre-Luc Letourneau-LeBlond has been automatically suspended for one game, without pay, for instigating a fight in the final five minutes of NHL Game #17 against John Carlson of the Washington Capitals.
Letourneau-LeBlond was assessed an instigator penalty at 15:53 of the third period. Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement and based on his average annual salary, Letourneau-LeBlond will forfeit $2,822.58 in salary. The money goes to the Players' Emergency Assistance Fund. Letourneau-LeBlond will miss Monday's game against Pittsburgh. |
Sucks, but not surprised.
I wish Leblond would have gotten his money's worth the suspension. Is it known if John MacLean will get fined? I'm pretty sure the coach is supposed to get fined $10,000 too. |
How Leblond got anything other than 2 or 4 for roughing on that play is completely beyond me. F*cken sissy league.
|
its because he got the instigator is the last 5 minutes you cant do that. PL3 really fuked up here. he will lose playing time, he is lucky that the east is stacked or he would be back down in AHL. what a retard.

At least now he has a legit excuse not to fight Godard I guess. :bored:

LeBlond - Grabs a guy and falls to the ice where nothing else happens. Suspended 1 game. Mike Cammalleri - Gets his stick in a guy's face/throat, and then 2 hands him across the ankle forcing him to miss time. Suspended 1 game. PLLLLLLL didn't f*ck anything up here so much as the league and all of the suits who run it are f*cking retarded. |
Leblond should have run the Caps' goalie like Merlin suggested in YSTB, or he should have just went around the ice throwing gloved punches at everyone.
Oh well, it's a learning experience for him I guess. |
Hey Gary!
Next time they come around, buy your Girl Scout cookies from Gary Bettman.

i dont see the problem here. Pl3 ask Johannson if he wanted to fight and got a "no" as a response during the faceoff, then chases him down the ice, catches him, drops the gloves and prepares to take his frustration out on the rookie, all but failing due to Johannson falling(looked like he dropped to the ice and rolled on his back like a scolded dog) to the ice, all with less then 5 mins left in the game.Did the league make the correct call? Yeah, the fact no actual punches were thrown doesnt make it not a fight,PL3 was in the act/process of fighting(mauling) Johannson. In any other case when a player drops his gloves and takes a player down ,its 9 outta 10 times called a fight in today's hockey, regardless of punchcount,so this shouldnt be a shocker. Im sure PL3 knew the deal before the puck even dropped, the only problem i see here is IF Maclean didnt give him the ok to do what he did,but then why even put him on the ice,we'll know if PL3 is benched when he gets back after the 1 gamer.

no problem with this...whoever made reference to cammaliere, he shulda gotten a few, and this should be where it is

Same thing here. Yeah PLLLLLLLLLLLL jumped Carlson, but nothing happened afterwards to warrant a fighting major. Without a fight, there can be no instigator. If you believe otherwise than you might as well go ahead and ask for a second helping of the league's Kool-Aid, because you have bought into their nonsense. |
Are the teams somehow allowed to pay the fines of the players and the coaches? I've always been wondering about this.
|
This is the exact scenario the league had in mind when it implemented this rule in the first place. The late-game message sending.
Agree or disagree with the rule, you'd have to be some kind of retarded to not think PL3 was going to get suspended here. |
