Phoenix Coyotes Claim Ken Klee Off Waivers

GLENDALE, ARIZONA - Phoenix Coyotes General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have claimed defenseman Ken Klee off re-entry waivers from the Anaheim Ducks.

Klee, 37, has appeared in three games with the Ducks this season. Last season, he played in 72 games with the Atlanta Thrashers, recording 1-9-10 and 60 penalty minutes (PIM).

A 14-year veteran, Klee has appeared in 866 career NHL games with the Washington Capitals, Toronto Maple Leafs, New Jersey Devils, Colorado Avalanche, Atlanta Thrashers and Anaheim Ducks while collecting 54-130-184 and 856 PIM, as well as a career rating of +21. The 6-foot-1, 210-pound Klee has also recorded 2-2-4 and 50 PIM in 51 career playoff games. In 1998, he helped lead Washington to the Stanley Cup Finals against Detroit.

Klee was originally drafted by Washington in the ninth round (177th overall) of the 1990 Entry Draft. A native of Indianapolis, Indiana, Klee spent the first nine years of his career with the Capitals. Prior to his NHL career, he played three seasons at Bowling Green University. He has also represented the United States at the 2004 World Cup, the 1992 and 1997 World Championships and the 1991 World Junior Championships.
