tangradi told me he's extremely excited. 12 family members coming to game.
Simon Despres tells me he's been re-assigned to juniors

Anyone who wants to know about Tangradi, all you need to know is he is from Philly.

Sending Despres back is the right move. Let him have one more good season in the Q where he'll play every night, rather than have him play limited minutes this year. He had a great camp and is as close to NHL-ready as you can get.

As for Tangradi, I'm excited for him - he's earned his spot. He has looked very good on a line with Comrie and Malkin, and isn't shy about going to the net. He's probably only here until Staal gets back, but I hope he makes the most of it. And I'm sure he's excited to play against his hometown team.

This also means that Engelland has officially made the team, which is great news.

Welp, Tangradi was assigned to Wheeling, so don't get too excited yet.

Link on the Pens site if you want to see it.

Pens are making a move. Tangradi will be recalled once everything is sorted out. However they have recalled GOALIE Patrick Killen.

I do not understand this move. Tangradi was all excited to play against his old team, and then the rug was pulled from under him? And to carry a third goalie??? WTF Shero??? Whatever his justification, that's a pretty damn ****ty thing to do to him.

Well he is the only player on the Pens roster who can be sent down without going through waivers. They recall a goalie who is no where near NHL ready and #5 on our depth chart. Something has to be up, either a player claim or a trade.

Shero isnt commenting either, so something is up. One thing was said though Tangradi will be here for tommorrows game, and I mean recalled not watching from the seats or tv.

Yeah, I read all that over at TIOPS. This had better be a temporary move, otherwise I will lose a bit of respect for Shero. My guess is there has to be a trade in the works, because I can't see them keeping 14 forwards.

This whole thing is funny. What the hell are they up to? Sucks for Tangradi since he apparently has to physically report to Wheeling and then likely turn around and go right back.

What's the Pen's purpose for all of this?

I'm betting one of Fleury or Johnson is hurt/sick, and they're doing this just for tomorrow night. That or Tangradi was so excited to make the team he went binge drinking and killed a hooker, so this is some sort of disciplinary thing.

We won't know until tomorrow. It can't be for cap purposes because the Pens had plenty of cap space left even before they put Staal on LTIR. It's a really odd move whatever their reasoning.

Both Fleury and Johnson are healthy, so it isn't that. And if one of them weren't, they wouldn't call up a goalie from Wheeling, they'd recall Curry or Thiessen from WBS. So it's all speculation until tomorrow.

There's also the possibility, that yeah, he has been assigned to Wheeling. Shero has never given me any reason to question him, and I certainly won't start now. If he and their talent evaluators feel Tangradi doesn't quite have what it takes yet, let him develop more, even if it is in the ECHL. You don't want to rush a guy like this too much and have him get destroyed. It's entirely possible he'll be back on the team, tomorrow, this weekend, or next week. But it's also possible he's a Nailer in a month. We'll see.

Tangradi dosent have to go to Wheeling, unlike in the AHL where you have to report.

Speculation is rampant.

Johnson or Fluery has the flu and they need an extra goalie - WRONG! Curry would get that call and both skated I believe.

We are over the cap and needed to make room - WRONG! Had to come down to 23 men UNDER the cap by 3PM, that was accomplished.

The Pens are trying to grab a dman and need to demote someone- WRONG! Lilja reached out and the Pens said PASS!

MAF is getting traded.... again. WRONG! You know why....

The Pens are finally acquing that golden winger for Sid- WRONG! We have no need to and cant afford it anyway with 300k in space.

Essentailly what I am getting at is I've got no ****ing idea what they are doing, even weirder is they are recalling Tangradi for tomorrow's game. Oh RS!

Pretty sure Curry would have to clear waivers to go back down. Seriously, Johnson or Fleury could have a bad flu and not be able to go tomorrow. Send Tangradi 45 minutes away instead of 6 hours away, call up some scrub to sit on the bench for the game, then by the next game, the lineup is restored. It's not exactly like they're going to miss out on a forward for a night.

Shero told him today that he made the team. If he didn't think he had what it takes to play in the NHL, he would not have done that. So there has to be something else going on, and I don't believe for a second that Shero would lie to Tangradi. One thing it has done is gotten the speculation machine going full speed ahead.
