http://penguins.nhl.com/club/m_news.htm?id=613646
The Pittsburgh Penguins have re-assigned forwards Steve MacIntyre and Eric Tangradi to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton of the American Hockey League, it was announced by executive vice president and general manager Ray Shero. MacIntyre, 31, has played in 11 games this season for Pittsburgh, going scoreless with four penalty minutes. MacIntyre has also appeared in seven AHL games during two previous stints with WBS. Tangradi, 22, has skated in 12 NHL games for the Penguins this season, averaging 9:13 minutes per game. During his time in the AHL he has been one of the top offensive performers for WBS, ranking third on the team with 14 goals and fourth with 25 points in 30 games. |

If Mac is going to stay up he's got to flat out do something that would justify taking a roster spot. I'm not talking about jumping someone and taking an instigator (unless completely justified of course). That would be the worst thing for him to do putting the team on the PK. He needs to go out there and take advatage of his size to bang bodies and draw attention. Just skating around out there like deputy dog not doing anything is just going to get him a quick trip back to the AHL. I was surprised he got this call and will be even more surprised if he gets the call again. Don't get me wrong I'd love to see the guy have a spot on the team and play EVERY night. He's not fast enough to skate a regular shift and teams no longer dress a guy that only skates 5 or 6 shifts a game. Did I mention I hate the new NHL??

Yeah when Mac isn't in the lineup the fourth line has a regular shift..... I'd rather see Mac down in the AHL anyways getting a regular shift guy has to work on his game, skating. It's obvious the coaching staff is very leery of having him out there. He took a penalty last night too. He gets less work from the pressbox or bench. Hopefully he improves enough to play somewhere next year.

His presence may have kept the Blues in line a bit last night, because I don't remember them running Fleury like they did Howard. Still though, if he isn't going to fight, then he may as well stay in the A.

More worried about Tangradi then Mac. The fact Tangradi was scratched last night for Mac is a bit worriesome. Tangradi can hold his own weight as well when it comes to dropping the gloves. He really isn't developing and you wonder if he is in the long term plans of the franchise.
I just don't see how he will fit or adapt to Bylsma's system.

Yeah he is slower than frozen molassas....But he did make a nice play and pass, but he f'd up and the pass was to Adams..Who obviously shanked it wider than Billy Cundiff's field goal attempt....

This is Big Mac's chance to work on a lot of skating, anticipating plays and whatnot on this all star break.
Tangradi played very well with Malkin and Sullivan in the preseason. If Crosby was back I could see him with Crosby. Or Dupuis - Crosby - Kunitz then Tangradi - Malkin - Neal.

The only place I can imagine MacIntyre fitting in to todays NHL is as a Tim Kerr type. He could park in front of the net and look for deflections. Of course he'd have to work on his hands, he ain't no Mike Bossy.

i also agree that he really needs to work on his speed. 0seconds of ice in the 1st. takes the trip call. then plays high and directs traffic while st.louis cycled the puck. more aggression would help. too bad he couldnt devolp into a derek boogaard. derek mashed guys and was a clear presence out there most games. Big Mac needs to up his game. with a scrap last night at the start of the third would of killed the blues momentum, even in second. pittsburg let the blues back into the game. its not surprising that he went back down.
