Time for Jordan Staal to show that he can handle the job of a second line centre.

The last 254 regular season games the Penguins have played have seen Evgeni Malkin. He hasn't missed a game since sitting out the first four contests of the 2006-07 season due to a shoulder injury. Pretty durable for a Russian who sometimes plays with an edge.

You guys have enough talent, Colorado has a bunch out were doing ok. You will be fine, winning has comsumed the team and they are thriving off of it.

BTW, the Pens recalled Chris Conner today to take Malkin's spot in the lineup: http://penguins.nhl.com/club/news.ht...id=DL|PIT|home

Well Malkin can play through this but he decided to rest, which is smart. He has had the injury for a bit of time now and just wanted to rest while we are in as good of a spot as we are.
As far as the Pens are concerned I think we will be just fine. Losing Malkin isn't near the hit we take losing Gonch. You see the struggles without Gonchar and they are painful! Sid steps up when Malkin is out and Malkin steps up when Sid is out. I have faith in our forwards. As far as Conner I think he may get some time on the 3rd line. You will proably see Staal move up and this gurantees Rupp and Godard to keep starting. BTW anyone like this Borque kid? Looks pretty slow here. Also rumor is TK has a pulled groin. He did have the flu though so its been a rough couple of weeks. I will ask him how he feels when I see him at the mall again!

Second, if TK is healthy and back in the lineup, I don't want that line broken up for anything. Cooke-Staal-Kennedy is as good of a line as they come. They can easily be the most productive, and we're going to need as much production over the next couple weeks as possible. |
