Penguins' Kris Letang Suspended Two Games

NEW YORK – Pittsburgh Penguins defenseman Kris Letang has been suspended, without pay, for two games for boarding Winnipeg forward Alexander Burmistrov during NHL Game No. 66 Monday night in Winnipeg, the National Hockey League’s Department of Player Safety announced today.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Letang will forfeit $37,837.84. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

At 13:08 of the third period, Letang hit Burmistrov from behind, driving him into the boards. Letang was assessed a minor penalty for boarding.

Letang will miss games tonight at Minnesota and Thursday, Oct. 20, vs. Montreal. He will be eligible to return Saturday, Oct. 22, vs. New Jersey.

Sure, the league will suspended a goon like Letang, but what's gonna happen when a star player like Erik Christensen does something questionable?

next season the players will be looking at a 5 gamer for giving someone a menacing stare. Oh well, i'm starting to actually bore myself with all the moaning i'm doing, maybe we should embrace it...........yeah right, NEVER!

2 games for this? I'm not surprised, but its still stupid as hell.

As a faggy Hab fan, I'm curious to what Shanahan would've given Chara for his hit on Pacioretty or not.

I think they've made it quite clear whether we like it or not, that it is no longer just a 2 minute penalty. That USED to be the rule.

I am not a PENS fan but that call was right on the ice, and wrong off the ice Players have to stop putting themselves in that position to be hit, I agree with Daneyko on Hockey Night Live. (for those of you who don't get it)
