Let me try to explain myself.

I see Adams as being the 3rd man in to an altercation between Scott Hartnell and Sidney Crosby. He certainly slugged him a few times but then they squared off and had a fair fight.

I would have given him 5 for fighting and a game misconduct rather than 2-5-10.

I feel that in these huge scrums they could basically hand out an instigator for each fight if they really wanted to. I understand Adams certainly did instigate the fight, so I guess my problem is more with the decision not to rescind the "automatic" one game suspension.

The NHL had no problems rescinding Malkin's "automatic" one game suspension when he instigated that fight with Zetterberg a few years ago in the Finals.

That was Adams last game in a pens uniform...... Maybe they'll feel bad and sign him on a two way contract because he was trying to protect Crosby and he can play in WBS. That game was both Adams and ashams last.

You're forgetting the all important NHL double standard. If a star player instigates, the penalty will be rescinded. If it's a 3rd/4th liner, the penalty stays.

how can you expect them to rescind something so ****ing obvious that is in the rule book, not just something shanahan is making up?

there's a gray area to an extent, but there is no way in hell, that gray area can be used in this situation.

My problem is more with the inconsistency. I'd be a fool to argue that Adams didn't instigate the fight with Hartnell, but how is it much different than Sobotka just suckering Moore at the end of the Sharks/Blues game the other night?

I understand what your saying, but most of the time guys pair off, there are times were some one trys to stand in for one of there players but guys dont normally just start punching the back of a guys heads either. Adams could have grabbed ahold of harts and got him to turn around, but he didnt. Either way emotions run high, I been there, chit happens
