Unless..........you are a Bruins player. That was a pathetic suspension. And I can almost guarantee you that the reason Campbell suspended Kubina for that was to throw it in the face of the Canadiens. Campbell is chicken shiit. |

This is how ridiculous the NHL is, this situation should be the textbook definition of the incosistency of the NHL.
Yes, I'm a Tampa Bay fan and a friend of Pavel Kubina. I was at the game and spoke to Kubi after the game and was joking around with him when I held up my elbow and said- "what was that"? he laughed and said- ELBOW so I asked him if he did it on purpose and he said- "of course not, I wouldn't try to hurt the guy". Kubi is 6'4 260 pounds and one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet in your life. My dad and I have spoken about this quite often that because of his size, he goes OUT OF HIS WAY to avoid hurting anyone. It was obviously an accident, it wasn't dirty you moronic twirps but I can see how people might think it was but know what the fock you're talking about before you accuse one of the cleanest players in the game of being dirty. He isn't. Colon Campbell is the problem here. Hockey is a physical game and with the recent Zdeno Chara incident and lack of a suspension which clearly could have sent a more meaningful message, Campbell decides to not punish Chara who is not only a "super star", winner of the hardest shot contest in the NHl's clusterfock of an all star game, but he's also captain and teammate to Campbell's son on the Bruins who are fighting for a playoff spot with the very same team that Kubina plays for! Conspiracy theory? Perhaps but it also happens to fit the facts. The NHL is very selective when they hand out punishment. Guys like Ovechkin avoid fair justice because of their status as a league poster boy and Matt Cooke plays for the Pens who are owned by Mario lemieux and if we have learned anything, the NHL will kiss Mario's ass. Pavel Kubina is now labeled a dirty player by the NHL, $60,000 poorer(boo hoo) and Tampa Bay is without a key defensemen in the middle of a playoff race that's very tight. I call shenanigans on Campbell and the NHL. No consistency, obvious favoritism and too many rules that have hurt the game more than help it. The worst problem is that there is no respect from players and the guys that are dirty get away with murder because they aren't properly disciplined ON THE ICE. John Scott was in the game, why didn't he go after Kubi? Because Kubi probably apologized to Bolland later in the game, that's the kind of guy he is and it was a tight game so Chicago wasn't going to target him. It should have been a 2 minute minor and a letter from butthole warning him to keep his elbows down in the future. Instead, Kubi gets treated the same way Matt Cooke is treated, with a suspension as if he were some kind of repeat offender. One guy tries to hurt people ALL THE TIME, the other is a good, clean player who is a lot bigger than most and he caught a player in the helmet for christ sake, it's not like he targeted his face! I've seen worse elbows on Monday Night Raw! Total bull**** and I'm sick to death of this crap. They are ruining our game with this joke of an organization.

A deliberate shot to the head was never legal, and the NHL has made it clear they will not tolerate it. Yes, they are certainly inconsistent on the calls, but players need to understand the seriousness of head contact. Kubina was a complete moron for throwing the elbow. It may have been missed by the officials, but a penalty was definitely warranted. I don't have a problem with the league stepping in with supplemental discipline. There have to be ramifications for such conduct, or the players will not change...
