Probably means we'll never see Selanne-Kariya playing together again.

Besides that I doubt Kariya will return after this season.

Time to hang'em up.

PCS on a 35+ year old player is the end. Hopefully Kariya realizes that, or he'll be one big hit away from something even worse off.

Veteran forward Paul Kariya will miss the next NHL season after being diagnosed with post-concussion syndrome.

Kariya announced the decision through a release from his agent Friday.

The 35 year old is a free agent after spending the last three seasons with St. Louis.

Kariya scored 18 goals and added 25 assists with the Blues last season.

Kariya missed six games last December and January after sustaining a concussion. He also missed playing for Canada 1998 Winter Olympics because of a concussion.

The two-time Lady Byng Trophy winner has 402 goals and 587 assists in a 15-year career with Anaheim, Colorado, Nashville and St. Louis.

I didn't even know he was still playing. Hang it up Paul.

I would agree. Paul was the first big FA for Nashville which went along way to legitimize the club with the town.

It's time to hang them up while there is still time to come out with your health relatively intact.

I saw that reported on ESPN the other night. Too bad.

Just retire Paul.

Always loved watching him play. I usually don't like smaller guys, but he was fun to watch. Never seemed the same watching him on any other team but the mighty ducks. Great backhanders too. I always thought he'd be a hall of famer, but injuries took their toll. Personally, I'd love for him to come back, but like whats been said, PCS is hard to deal with, and one hit could spell a lot more trouble.

Anyways I still remember that Gary Suter crosscheck very well and it seems like it was an eternity ago.
Already after that hit many people said he is probably just one blow away from being seriously damaged in his mellon.

He recovered pretty nicely from the Stevens' hit.

Look destined to be coming back to the Ducks this year. Even reports he was close to a deal, just was on the back burner because of Bobby Ryan's situation. Just a shame, loved watching Paul play. Hopefully now he realizes his life is in jeapordy with just 1 more hit.

I was always a fan of Kariya's, although his game has fallen off quite a bit in recent years. Still, it is sad to hear he's having post-concussion syndrome issues again, and at this stage of his career I wouldn't be surprised if we've seen the last of him on an NHL ice surface.

Oh yeah. That was awesome to see. I was in a hotel in Toronto during that time. Couldn't believe he came back, let alone score during that game.

I think it's sad that he is hurt and I don't wish that upon anyone.

But I guess I am a minority on here, I never did like Kariya. He was the king of Dives and always whinned alot to the refs. Yeah he was a good hockey player, but in my eyes acted like a bit(h a lot of time.... In some ways I blame him for the new NHL... It's players like him that wanted it changed to fit his style more....

I would have love to seen him come back to the ducks, so that I could watch Kings players smash him into the boards...

But once again, I hope health wise he is ok and I wish him and his family the best...
