Panthers Sign Andre Deveaux

SUNRISE – Florida Panthers Executive VP & General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has agreed to terms with C Andre Deveaux on a one-year, two-way contract.

“Andre is a big, physical and strong forward who adds further depth to our organization,” said Tallon. “He has had the opportunity to gain some NHL playing experience and we look forward to his continued growth with the Florida Panthers.”

Deveaux, 28, has played in 31 National Hockey League games for Toronto (2008-2010) and NY Rangers (2011-2012) registering two assists and 104 PIM. The 6-foot-4, 232-pound forward played in nine games for the Rangers last season picking up an assist, while also appearing in 59 contests for Connecticut (American Hockey League) scoring 20 goals with 20 assists.

The Freeport, Bahamas native has played in 476 AHL games scoring 95 goals with 109 assists and 1,371 PIM. Deveaux was originally drafted by Montreal in the sixth round (182nd overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft.

Deveaux is that type of guy that isn't a good enough fighter to see full NHL time and not good enough as a player to see much NHL time.

And you are wondering if it's two-ways or one-way?

I don't think he ever served the 3 game suspension he got last year so maybe they keep him up to get that out of the way early so that they could call him up if the team has a horrific plane crash.

I hate Deveaux and I hope George Parros smacks that douche bag around throughout training camp.

His best moment from last year:

Can I fight him coach? Can I? Yup yup yup!

This is a loss for Hartford, now three of the Whale's top four scorers from last year are gone and somehow they got even softer than they were last season.
