Panthers Re-Sign Scott Clemmensen to Two-Year Contract
Florida Panthers Executive VP & General Manager Dale Tallon announced today that the club has agreed to terms with G Scott Clemmensen on a two-year contract extension.
“Scott is a high-character, hard-working player who is a true professional in every sense,” said Tallon. “He stepped in and played very well in some tough games for us last season, including recording wins against Los Angeles, Vancouver, San Jose, Washington and Philadelphia. We are very pleased to have him back with our club and look forward to his continued contributions to our organization both on and off the ice.” Clemmensen, 34, played in 30 games with the Panthers last season going 14-6-6 with a 2.57 GAA and one shutout. He won three consecutive games to start last season (Nov. 15 @ Dallas, Dec. 3 @ San Jose, Dec. 5 vs. WSH), including stopping all 25 shots in a shutout win at Dallas. The Des Moines, Iowa native appeared in three playoff games with Florida last year, going 1-2 with a 2.35 GAA and leading the Panthers to a 4-3 victory over New Jersey in Game 3 of the Eastern Conference quarterfinals. For his career with the Panthers, Clemmensen has played in 84 games going 31-25-15 with three shutouts and a 2.68 GAA. He originally signed a three-year contract with the Panthers in July 2009. Drafted by New Jersey in the eighth-round (215th overall) of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft, Clemmensen has played in 152 career NHL contests for New Jersey (2001-2007), Toronto (2007-2008) and Florida (2009-2012), posting a 64-45-20 mark with a 2.64 GAA and a .910 SV%.
