Panthers Claim MacIntyre; Place Him On Waivers

SUNRISE, FL – Florida Panthers General Manager Randy Sexton announced today that the club has claimed LW Steve MacIntyre off waivers from the Edmonton Oilers.

MacIntyre, 29, has played in four games with Edmonton this season, recording seven penalty minutes. For his career in the NHL, he has played in 26 contests for Edmonton registering two goals with 47 PIM. The 6-foot-5, 250-pound forward was originally signed as a free agent by the Panthers on July 3, 2008 but was claimed off waivers by the Oilers on September 30, 2008.

Figured this would happen, as the Oil were the ones who stole Mac from the Panthers last season.

Florida has nothing to lose playing Mac, they are pathetic otherwise.

I think they'd have to put him through waivers.

So... we'll see him stand up for some teammates, get some good pub from the local media. We'll hear teammates talk about how great it is to have a guy like him watching over things... and then the Cats will trade him for a used washer.

Wade Belak, round 2....

Really hope Florida actually plays him... would be fukking awesome to get another team with a heavy. Oilers could have used Mac but they are obviously still not that bad off with Stortini, Strudwick, Jacques, Peckham

Great. One of the few teams I could count on to be softer than the Sabres go and pick up Big Mac.

I'm sure the Panthers fans on here will be ecstatic ... both of 'em.

At least I've still got the Isles.

I hope he plays against us, and I hope he kills Rod Brind'Amour, or Chad Larose, on the ice.

Great news if Mac actually gets the opportunity to play with the Panthers. They are in desperate need of an enforcer. But given that team's recent history with enforcers or lack of them, I'm not sure we'll be seeing him in the lineup very often if ever.
