Olli Jokinen Suspended Three Games
 

TORONTO – Calgary Flames’ forward Olli Jokinen has been suspended for three games and will forfeit $48,387.09 in salary for a cross check to the head of Phoenix Coyotes player Wojtek Wolski in NHL game #266 on November 17, 2010.

Jokinen’s fine is based on his average annual salary and is calculated under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

The incident occurred at 10:32 of the third period and Jokinen was assessed a major penalty for cross checking and a game misconduct.

Jokinen will miss the Flames next three games – Nov. 19 vs. Chicago, Nov. 21 at Detroit and Nov. 22 at New York Rangers. He is eligible to return Nov. 24 at New Jersey.

It was a gutless play. Typical of him. Last I checked, though, Wolski was playing for the Coyotes when the incident happened...

Watch the Flames win the next 3 in a row, then go back to their losing ways once he gets back.

it was a dirty play no questions asked, three games seems a little excessive though. In any case he should be more careful with the stick.

Near 900 NHL games played and this is the first suspension for him so far. Wouldn't say his that dirty or gutless of a player. Maybe this little break does good for him.

Jokinen has done nothing for Calgary this season though, those games which has televized Jokinen has unsucceed.
Only ok/good in front of the net but thats it.
He should to leads the team playing better.
