Oilers and Smid Agree to Terms
General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have agreed to terms with defenceman Ladislav Smid on a two-year deal.
Smid, 25, has spent the past five seasons with Edmonton after being acquired from Anaheim in 2006. Last year the 6’3”, 225-pound defenceman appeared in 78 games collecting 10 assists and 85 penalty minutes. Smid, who is from Frydlant, Czech Republic, has 44 points (4G, 40A) and 276 penalty minutes in 331 career NHL games. He was originally drafted in the 1st round, 9th overall, in the 2004 NHL Entry Draft by Anaheim.

Hopefully he can just stay healthy, he's a fairly tough D man who is more than willing to drop the gloves and plays a solid game!
