General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have agreed to terms with Oil Kings centre Travis Ewanyk on a three-year entry level contract.

Ewanyk, 19, has played five seasons with the Edmonton Oil Kings of the Western Hockey League. He helped the Oil Kings to the 2012 WHL Championship and Edmonton's first Memorial Cup appearance in modern day franchise history.

The St. Albert, Alberta native has appeared in 27 post-season games with the Oil Kings, recording three goals and two assists. In 185 games, the 6'2", 192-pound centre registered 59 points (26G, 33A).

The Oil Kings alternate captain has represented Team Canada internationally as a member of Hockey Canada’s Program of Excellence at the 2010 World U-17 Hockey Challenge for Team Pacific and the 2011 U-18 World Championship. Ewanyk also represented the Canadian Hockey League as a member of Team WHL at the 2012 Canada Russia Super Series.

Ewanyk has played in 58 games this season for the Oil Kings, posting 23 points (8G, 15A) and a plus 23 rating.

The Oilers selected Ewanyk in the 3rd round, 74th overall in the 2011 NHL Draft.
