Oilers Sign Jordan Bendfeld

The Edmonton Oilers have signed defenceman Jordan Bendfeld to a three-year entry level contract.

The 6'2", 222 pound native of Leduc, Alberta was the Oilers fifth choice in the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He joins the Oilers after playing the last four seasons with the Medicine Hat Tigers.

Bendfeld completed his junior career with Medicine Hat last season, scoring 6-19-25 with 160 penalty minutes in 72 games with the Tigers. He played 225 career games for Medicine Hat from 2004-05 to 2007-08 and scored 17-50-67 with 392 penalty minutes.

The durable defenceman missed only seven games during his three full seasons with Medicine Hat after joining the Tigers midway through the 2004-05 season from Leduc of the Alberta Midget Hockey League. Bendfeld played all 72 games in both the 2006-07 and 2007-08 seasons and missed only seven games during the 2004-05 campaign.

A member of Medicine Hat’s 2006-07 WHL championship team, he scored five assists in 23 post-season games and registered a league-leading 62 penalty minutes in helping the Tigers to a berth in the Memorial Cup tournament.

Thanks. In getting the roster for the GM game for Phoenix, they had him listed.
