Here's his shot. He never impressed me with the caps but he was a beast in Hershey. Hopefully he makes the most of this shot.

this has got to be for okc...and don't tell me its a one-way deal. that means jack****! joel perrault got one and he's destined for manitoba, jason krog has one and he'll be in chicago in the ahl. all the one-way deal means is he's getting paid to play there with a small chance of being called up.

While a 1-Way deal doesn't guarentee anything, I'd have to believe that he'll see considerable time in Edmonton. The article says he passed up a $1M+ deal from the KHL to take another shot at the big leagues. Obviously he'd be a big help to OKC getting off the ground, but I don't see why he'd sign up for another year in the AHL.

Regardless, best of luck to Alex, hope he makes the Oil and can be productive after the great years in Hartford and the record setting years in Hershey.

why would edmonton who is going with a massive youth movement promise time to a career ahl'er instead of hall, gagner, eberle, etc? it makes no sense, plus the fact that he won't be on one of the top two lines with those three and penner and others. so if giroux thinks he'll be in edmonton, he's not all there.

well we need the size and this guy is a legit player and is a hell of a player in the AHL no doubt and its not like he is an old ahl player he is 29 and should have a good few years left in him... kinda makes sense kinda doesnt..

He'll have a shot, but it's going to be tough for him... The Oilers now have 16 legit guys for 14 forward spots if you include Eberle, Hall and Paajarvi-Svensson...

Most likely it will be one of the kids and then either Giroux or Ryan Jones who end up in the AHL for next year.

The other possibility is that the Oilers let one of their RFA's walk depending on the outcome...

Either way - it will be hard for Giroux to make this team.

I have a feeling that Cogliano will be dealt from this roster by training camp to free up another spot.

I like what Tambo is doing though - I'd rather give this Giroux kid a spot to fight for than watch MA Pouliot or Potulny for another year...

Maybe there is hope in Edmonton? Finally, a guy in charge who doesn't believe Lennart Petrell is a legitimate roster player.
