Oilers Recall Tim Sestito From Springfield

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today that the Edmonton Oilers have recalled centre Tim Sestito from the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.

The 6’0”, 195 pound native from Rome, New York has played 16 games for the Falcons this season and has scored two goals and an assist with six penalty minutes.

Signed as a free agent by the Oilers on August 1, 2006, Sestito has played the last two seasons in the Edmonton organization with Springfield and the ECHL’s Stockton Thunder. A graduate of the OHL’s Plymouth Whalers, the 24-year-old forward scored 7-10-17 with a team-leading 175 penalty minutes in 77 games with Springfield in 2006-07.

Hopefully he brings a good level of grit and hard work if he gets the shot to play, instead of playing the useless Pouliot.

Did I miss something?

In 16 games in the AHL, this guy has 3 points, 6 PIMS and is -1 and he gets the second callup after Reddox?

Why not try and get Mathieu Roy up to the bigs and try him at forward?

Why not try and get Schrempy up, or Brule, or Spurgeon, or Potulny, or ANYONE but Sestito...

Or here is a novel thought.. MOVE A FREAKIN' GOALIE so that we can actually add a piece to this puzzle...

This move I don't particularly understand.

Good character? Have you met Boots? He's not the only criminal NHL owner... What has this league become...

I don't understand this move either. Sestito is a pest, somewhat good checker and that is all

schremp will never play in the nhl, the other three you listed arent ready. potulny proved that in philly the last couple years. brule well couldnt even play on the jackets so that should tell you how much his worth is. and spurgeon is still gettin his game back together after the concussion last year. roy just sucks. if he couldnt play defense in the nhl what makes you think that he can play forward? sestito is an ok choice and doesnt have the same stats cause he toned it down as captain and to have a chance to play in the nhl.

I disagree that Roy can't play worth a lick - he was an AHL all star - I think he at least deserve a shot before "3 point" Sestito does...

no he doesnt. this is what edmonton needs a gritty player, not an ahl scorer that will be stuck on the 4th line and bein told to play a different way than he truly knows and is good at.

Really? A pest? With only 6 PIMs in 16 games?

Hopefully he plays more like the player who had 175 PIM in 77 games last season than the player who has 6 PIM in 16 games this season.
