Oilers Recall Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers

The Edmonton Oilers have added goaltender Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers to the roster on emergency recall from the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.

Drouin-Deslauriers, a 6’4”, 189 pound native of St-Jean-Richelieu, Quebec, will join the Oilers in Minnesota for the first game of their three-game road trip against the Minnesota Wild.

The Oilers’ second choice, 31st overall, in the 2002 NHL Entry has appeared in 54 games for the Falcons this season and is 24-16-5 with a 2.91 goals-against average and a .911 save percentage.

This is the third time this season that the 23-year-old goaltender has been recalled from Springfield. He was previously recalled on November 13th and again on December 22nd, but did not see any playing time before being returned to Edmonton’s AHL affiliate.

Garon is day to day...

With the importance of these next few games, I'm sure that Roloson will get the starts...

However, should they lose say 2 straight and Garon still be out, don't be surprised to see Jeff DD get a start in game three of this trip...

Maybe there is hope in Edmonton? Finally, a guy in charge who doesn't believe Lennart Petrell is a legitimate roster player.

Drouin-Deslauriers is a solid goalie, not sure right now he's ready for the NHL long-term but he won't let the Oilers down if needed.

Despite all the injuries it's nice to see the Oilers keeping in touch. Makes you think if healthy what might have been, especially Souray.

There's a really good solid young core so hopefully something we can build on.

hmm this has got me wondering little of topic but whats next for edmonton who is gunna be going next season?

i mean roli days are deffinetly numbered and garon will hopefully take over and DD's will be back up goalie. but what about the younger players and the injured players? the oilers got gagner, cogliano, nillson, brodziak, glencross, gilbert and stortini but what happens when the injured players get healthy some people are gunna have to go down. cuz no doubt they will be playing torres horcoff souray and moreau when they are healed up so who goes down??

sadly i think brodziak nillson and man love (stortini) will be sent down and that kinda ruins what has happend in the last month... your oppinions?

Torres and Stoll are definite candidates to be moved in the offseason to make room for the youngsters - Stolli has had a trainwreck season, and Torres just hasn't had it going since he's been in Edmonton (or the NHL for that matter).

With Torres under contract and enough centermen already, I really believe we'll see Stoll moved. I still think they'll keep Torres.
