Oilers Reassign Stortini to Hamilton

The Edmonton Oilers have assigned forward Zack Stortini to the Hamilton Bulldogs of the American Hockey League.

Stortini, who was recalled from Hamilton on January 19th, made his NHL debut with the Oilers in Edmonton’s 4-0 loss versus Calgary at Rexall Place on January 20th. Stortini was scoreless and –1 with 10 penalty minutes in his Oilers debut.

The 6’3”, 215-pound native of Elliot Lake, Ontario has scored 9-6-15 with 172 PIM and is +1 in 42 games with Hamilton this season. He was 12th on the Bulldogs scoring list and led the AHL in penalty minutes at the time of his recall. Three of his nine goals were scored on the powerplay.

Hopefully he will be recalled after the all-star break. Same goes for DJ King who was also sent down.

Stortini should be back up after the break for their next game, and I did not know D.J King was sent down. I dont get it he played against The Ducks and not against the Kings or the Sharks. That doesnt make sense, well Murray can kiss my ass!

Hopefully they're not blaming him for the 4-0 loss to Calgary.

Hopefully-temp move for him to work on his game during the break. I dont think he really was given a enough games to showcase his "services".

As was the case with Godard being sent back to Omaha, Stortini and King were most likely sent down for the AS break only.

He played soilid in his game, he was dishing out big checks, bringing emotion to the game and looked solid on the ice. The announcers/media were praising him pretty much the entire game. Hopefully he will be back up soon.
