Oilers Re-Sign Theo Peckham to One-Year Contract

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have agreed to terms with defenceman Theo Peckham on a one-year contract. Peckham will earn $1.075M next season.

Peckham, 24, played in 54 games last season with the Oilers scoring a goal with two assists and 80 penalty minutes.

The 6'2", 235-pound Richmond Hill, Ontario native has spent his entire career of five years with Edmonton and in 156 NHL games he has 17 points (4G, 13A) with 382 penalty minutes.

Peckham was selected by Edmonton in the 3rd round, 75th overall in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft.

I absolutely love Pecks... he's got to get back on the horse and win a few fights this year... he has not been the same since Horton gave him the old KTFO...

The sad part is he's probably 8 on the Oilers D depth chart right now (Whitney, Schultz, Schultz, Smid, Petry, Sutton, Potter) and the Oilers are widely reported as being interested in another top 4 D man ASAP, which means he drops to 9.... He might not play play much in the NHL at all going forward...

Either way - very, very honest kid. We need more guys like Pecks in the league.

If you want a good laugh, look at his past fights and see him tee off on Claude Lemieux (February 2009) and Maxim Lapierre (preseason 2011). Good kid.

Pecker is one of the only reasons to watch an Oilers game, and right near the top of my list of hated players/opponents!

This is a good signing. Every team needs a d-man like Theo.
