Oilers Place Tjarnqvist on IR; Recall Syvret From Grand Rapids
Three days after returning to the lineup, Edmonton Oilers defenceman Daniel Tjarnqvist has once again been placed on the NHL Injured Reserve List.
Dan Syvret has been recalled from the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League to take Tjarnqvist’s spot on the roster. Tjarnqvist, who returned to the Oilers lineup at Detroit on Friday, February 23rd, is sidelined with an inflamed pubic bone that has seen him miss all but two of the Oilers’ last 25 games between January 2nd and February 25th. He was in the lineup at Los Angeles on January 8th and again at Detroit on February 23rd. He has missed a total of 22 games due to the injury. This will be the second recall of the season for Syvret, who was first recalled to the Oilers on November 27th. He was a healthy scratch in Edmonton’s games versus Anaheim (Nov. 28) and Colorado (Nov. 30) before being returned to Grand Rapids on December 1st. The 5’11”, 203-pound defenceman played 10 games with the Oilers in 2005-06 and was scoreless with six penalty minutes. He made his NHL debut with Oilers on November 4, 2005 at St. Louis. In 50 games with the Griffins this season, Syvret has scored four goals and 14 assists for 18 points with 12 penalty minutes and is -1. |

If Syvret is up, who goes down? My guess is Mathieu Roy. I really wish they could keep him up more often.
I do hope Tjarnqvist gets better, though. Not because I want him in the lineup, but an inflammed pubic bone just sounds nasty. When Phil Kessel had testicular cancer, that didn't seem too pretty either!
