Oilers Ink Andrew Cogliano to One-Year Deal

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have agreed to terms with centre Andrew Cogliano on a one-year contract.

Cogliano, 23, finished last season appearing in all 82 games collecting 28 points (10G, 18A) and 31 penalty minutes. The 5’10” 185 lbs forward has played in 246 NHL games and has 111 points (46G, 65A) and 73 PIM.

The Toronto, ON native has played all three seasons for the Oilers including his rookie year in 2007-08 scoring 45 points (18G, 27A), which saw him land in the NHL record book when he scored overtime goals in three consecutive games.

The following season, in his sophomore year, Cogliano put up 38 points (10G, 28A) and was named to the NHL YoungStars Game in 2009 where he won the “fastest skater” competition.

Cogliano, who has not missed a game in the NHL to date, was originally drafted in the 1st round, 25th overall by Edmonton at the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.
