Oilers Deal Brodziak to Minnesota

The Edmonton Oilers have dealt centre Kyle Brodziak and the 161st overall pick to the Minnesota Wild in exchange for the 99th overall pick and 133rd overall pick in the draft.

With the 99th overall pick, the Oilers selected defenceman Kyle Bigos from Vernon of the BCHL.

WIth the 133rd overall pick, the Oilers chose goaltender Olivier Roy from Cape Breton of the QMJHL.

Maybe there is hope in Edmonton? Finally, a guy in charge who doesn't believe Lennart Petrell is a legitimate roster player.

Great way to address the gaping hole at center. Asset wise, didn't give up much either.

Good move from Fletch.

This clears the way for the Oilers to win the cup. That Kunt Brodziak was really holding us back.

im happy with this.. brodziak was really only there to take face-offs he couldn't score wasnt that physical didnt throw big hits didnt have much of a shot he was our faceoff man behind horcoff and gagner.. hopefully this will give edmonton some room to maybe put a more physical 4th line then they got right now..

Stortini-JFJ-Macintyre?? lol i know nhl 09 line

Good move from Fletch.

Good deal both both teams. The wild get an NHL caliber player without giving up much...

The Oilers unload an RFA forward that they have no intention of playing or resigning - there is little difference between Brodziak and the other 5 marginal NHL forwards behind him in the Oilers system, so this move makes sense from their point of view. He was benched enough times down the stretch last year that I figured this would be the end result due to his RFA status...

Good deal. Both teams win.

The consensus I'm hearing is that Brule will likely take his spot at 4th line centre if nothing else changes...

Quite frankly, Brule > Brodziak IMO - Brodziak was just way too soft...

Not happy with this, I loved Brodziak. We're small enough!

umm im gonna disagree with you on that. brule couldnt even make it in columbus during their bad years, what truly makes you think that he'll be a better player than brodziak? brule could very well be the biggest bust ever besides alexandre daigle. he had all this hype in vancouver and is gonna fight for a 4th line center role in his what 5th year in the league? sorry but that doesnt equat to being better than brodziak at all.

Have you seen Brodziak play?

Outside of winning faceoffs, what exactly does he bring to the game in your mind?

I'm not saying Brule is any good - I'm saying Brodziak does NOTHING outside of winning faceoffs... softer than butter... scratched numerous times for failure to compete last year...

It's not that Brule's all that, it's that at least he brings some sandpaper (a bit) in his game... offensively, the two guys are probably equal...

Either way, I don't know that either guy will ever play more than 6-7 minutes a game in their careers...

yes i have and i would rather have a brodziak who can win a faceoff and play on the pk than brule who well cant do jack ****. so it's technically a wash which doesnt equat to brule>brodziak which was what i was more getting at.

I disagree with this. If you want a guy who'll compete, Brodziak will. He stood out on a team of soft midgets.

That's fine Thrill...

Lowe, Tambo and MacT disagreed with you - he was benched at least twice down the stretch for inconsistent effort and failure to compete...

I am NOT saying he was the only one, but they definitely felt differently than you and Chilly...
