Oilers Claim Steve MacIntyre Off Waivers
The Edmonton Oilers have claimed defenceman Steve MacIntyre off waivers from the Florida Panthers.
The 6’6”, 265 pound native of Brock, Saskatchewan has seen playing time at both defence and forward during his career. Now in his eighth pro season, the 28-year-old brings both size and toughness to the ice. MacIntyre spent the 2007-08 season with the Providence Bruins of the American Hockey League, scoring 2-3-5 in 62 games with 213 penalty minutes. MacIntyre, who has also played with the AHL’s Hartford Wolf Pack, has registered 200-or-more penalty minutes six times since turning pro in 2001-02, including a career high 421 minutes in 2004-05 when he split the season between Hartford and the ECHL’s Charlotte Checkers. MacIntyre played three seasons in the Western Hockey League with Saskatoon, Red Deer and Prince Albert between 1997-98 and 1999-00. Last edited by Thrillhouse; 09-30-2008 at 02:43 PM. |

Link? I see nothing on the Edmonton site.
And considering Big Mac signed a 2 year deal in the offseason with Florida, he's not likely to have been waived already.

Thanks for the link Malt. I wasn't even aware Big Mac was on waivers in the first place?

Wow, tough luck for Rochester. Looks like R.J. might have an even better shot now.

This sucks, who does Florida have now? I'll be there Oct 6. NYI vs FLA, whose Sugden/Fritz going to fight, Nathan Horton? C'mon. Hopefully Belak plays.

Is Mac really all that better of a hockey player than Benson or McMorrow? This has to be for the big club since he'd have to be waived again to be sent to an already stacked Springfield team. Definately the guy they need to protect Hemsky and co.
On the other Hand (pun intended

Anyone else feel that? That was the weight of the world being taken off Zack Stortini's shoulders.
