I thought that since the Oil claimed him on the way down they have to pay full price for Boulerice. If they picked him up on re-entry waivers then they get him cheaper. I think?

jayc is right as to how it happened. the avs needed to sign him so no one else could. even if he signed a spc with lake erie any team could still sign him (ala mark parrish). edmonton has to pay his full salary cause it wasnt on re-entry waivers.

Agreed the guy can skate but he was an absolute cancer in our locker room. Wasn't much better for the Phantoms or Flyers.

In order to keep him in Lake Erie, you're right, Colorado didn't have to sign him. However by inking him to a two-way deal, it's obvious that they wanted him to be able to be recalled this season. In order for them to do that without Jesse being plunked off waivers while being recalled, he had to go through waivers right after signing the deal, and unfortunately for the Avs, Kevin Lowe picked him up.

Boulerice was never on an AHL-only deal, he was on a 25-game PTO, which was a tryout with Lake Erie. Another professional team can't sign a player on a PTO until they are released from it I believe.

Nice to see Boulerice back, he's one of my favorite enforcers. Hopefully he does his job without any screw ups. It would be nice to see him as a regular on any NHL team, very underrated fighter I.M.O with a great right hand.

I love this this is the second team that has lost the enforcer and quickly got another to fill in .. Awesome move on behalf of the oilers. And now we get to see what bowl of rice can do with another shot in the NHL. I hope he doesnt get suspended right away and actually get to throw down a few times.

Yea whattaya got. Thats an awfully bold statement for a guy who fought just about every top HW in the league sticking up for guys while with Carolina.

I always have loved Boulerice. Hes pulled some absolute dumb ass moves AND was on the recieving end of the most embaressing KO loss in NHL history but I love the guy. If I were a GM/coach/whatever, Id sign him but make a stipulation in the contract on suspensions so he didnt do anything stupid.

Eh.

JB has been one of my favs for a long time. Whoever it was questioning him with Carolina, I'd love to hear exactly why? They used to chant his name in Carolina at times. I thought he was pretty much loved there?

I know he has had his share of **** ups in his career. The OHL thing, of course and then later on with Philly, but I love this guy. He has the potential to be one of the best in this league. I think of him a lot like I do Godard -- Has all the tools, great chin, KO power, very willing and a mean streak. Everything I've heard of him (first hand in some cases) suggests he's a great team guy, too.

If he lives up to his potential, I could see him replacing Big Mac, actually. Mac will have to come back from this injury very well, with JB filling in for him. You never know how these things will go and it should be interesting to see what happens with it.

He swung his stick into the grill of Andrew Long and got kicked out of the O for it. I'm too lazy to find an article or anything, but if you google it, you should get a few dozen hits. He was charged with assault in the case, but I don't know whatever came of it.
