Oilers Claim Jesse Boulerice, Place Steve MacIntyre on IR
General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today that the Edmonton Oilers have claimed forward Jesse Boulerice off waivers from the Colorado Avalanche and have placed left winger Steve MacIntyre on the NHL Injured Reserve List.
Boulerice, a 6’2”, 215 pound native from Plattsburgh, New York has scored 2-2-4 with 46 penalty minutes in 12 games this season with Colorado’s American Hockey League affiliate, the Lake Erie Monsters. The 30-year-old right winger is in his 11th pro season after three seasons of junior hockey with the Detroit/Plymouth Whalers of the Ontario Hockey League. Drafted by the Philadelphia Flyers in the fifth round of the 1996 NHL Entry Draft, Boulerice made his pro debut with the AHL’s Philadelphia Phantoms in 1998-99 and made his NHL debut with the Flyers in 2001-02. Boulerice has played 170 NHL games with Philadelphia, Carolina and St. Louis, scoring 8-2-10 with 333 penalty minutes. He spent his first full season in the NHL with Carolina in 2002-03 and played a career-high 76 games with the Hurricanes in 2003-04, establishing career-highs with six goals, seven points and 127 penalty minutes. Boulerice split the 2007-08 season between Philadelphia and the Flyers’ AHL affiliate. He was scoreless with 29 penalty minutes in five games with the Flyers and registered 2-4-6 with 101 penalty minutes in 36 games with the Philadelphia Phantoms. MacIntyre missed the last two games of the Oilers seven-game road trip due to an upper body injury. |

And if I have this right, Boulerice was signed to a PTO by Lake Erie, so in order for the Avs to use his services he'd have to be signed to a NHL deal. The Avs didn't need him right away though, so they waived him assuming he'd pass with no problem considering he had no interest almost all summer, but Edmonton, who just lost big Mac for a while, needed a real enforcer so they scooped Jesse up. |
Yes, seward is a good source and here's TSN with confirmation

Nice move.

Good for Edmonton giving these enforcer`s opportunities to earn NHL $.
Its really a smart move by Edmonton. When Mac is ready to come back and scrap, they will send Boulerice down and could care less if they lose him on waivers. |
I guess we won't see Mac anytime soon then, not a fan of JB but anything is better that Stortini.

Seward is a sorcerer of sorts....he is not to be questioned....

They're getting for the Leafs on Thursday
I swear I saw on TSN yesterday that the Avs had put Boulerice on waivers but they removed it and it didn't make any sense so I figured it was just a mistake. |
Alright my bad im a dumbass i didnt know he was like an inside source and he knew stuff but it just sounded weird and he didnt link it my bad you can all give me **** :p

How long before Boulerice does something stupid and gets suspended? I'm going with 2 games. |

With Mac out, at least the Oilers addressed the need for someone to act as a replacement. Not a bad move.
