Oilers Assign Magnus Paajarvi To Oklahoma City

General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have assigned left-winger Magnus Paajarvi to the Oklahoma City Barons of the American Hockey League.

Paajarvi, 20, is in his second season with the Oilers appearing in 25 games this year recording three assists. Last season the 6’2”, 204-pound Norrkoping, Sweden native played in 80 games with Edmonton collecting 34 points (15G, 19A) finishing 7th on the team in scoring.

Paajarvi was selected by the Oilers in the 1st round, 10th overall, in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.

No big deal, he'll be back. Just needs a confidence rebuild.

Wow, and he's kind of been the forgotten one from last year's Oilers "Big 3" of him, Hall, and Eberle - seeign the way Nugent-Hopkins has exploded onto the scene has kind of shifted him further away from the spotlight, and maybe even less ice time with only 3 assists to show for it.

I agree, maybe all he does need is some more playing time in the minors to get him back to where he was headed last season....

I have been expecting this.
Maybe it's just a sophomore jinx?

Kinda unique situation, having two number 1 picks and Jordan Eberle around you, where on a lot of teams he would be a little higher up the rookie depth.
