Oilers Assign Jacques to Springfield
The Edmonton Oilers have assigned forward Jean-Francois Jacques to the Springfield Falcons of the American Hockey League.

Jacques played in the Oilers’ season opening 3-2 shootout win over the San Jose Sharks at Rexall Place last night and was scoreless and +1 with two hits.

I would really love to know why Edmonton has sent 2 of their toughest players down? ...It makes no sense at all. I hope they get man handled by every team they play.

The only guys left who can throw at all are Souray and Greene... And they aren't gonna be taking on any heavies and surviving anytime soon...


This season is starting off pretty pathetic...

What a stupid move by the Oilers.

Just a few days after assigning Stortini to the AHL, they now send down JF Jacques. What the hell are they doing? Their only tough players are now in the minors, and the Oilers are left with very little toughness. Torres, Greene, and Souray will occassionally drop the gloves, but that's not enough.... the Oilers don't have a heavy. Wasn't the whole point of bringing up Stortini to protect his teammates against Boogaard? You would think the Oilers would have learned their lesson....

This is just ridiculous, and I don't understand this decision.

No Jacques, and no Stortini. That's dumb.

'F' the Oilers. They are one of the weakest teams in the league, and I guess they will now go back to getting their star players like Ales Hemsky destroyed. I hope Boogaard has a field day on this piece of crap team to teach them a lesson. Edmonton will regret this.

Wow, wow, wow. Their skill players better watch out. They will get drilled all game, every game.

The Bruins are just fine, actually more than fine imo.

But they have lacked toughness (the addition of Thornthon solved that problem for real), before dressing Reich that team threw away everything willing to drop a glove....shame on them.

The Oilers are heading in that same direction this season.
