Oilers Activate MacIntyre; Place Hemsky on IR
General Manager Steve Tambellini announced today the Edmonton Oilers have placed forward Ales Hemsky on the NHL Injured Reserve List and activated forward Steve MacIntyre from the IRL.

Hemsky has missed the Oilers’ last five games (December 30-January 7) after suffering a concussion in Edmonton’s game versus the Nashville Predators at Rexall Place on December 28th.

MacIntyre returns to the roster after missing 26 games (November 9-January 7) with a fractured orbital bone suffered on November 6th versus the Pittsburgh Penguins. Making his NHL debut with the Oilers at Anaheim on October 15th, MacIntyre was scoreless with 24 penalty minutes in 10 games before being injured.

Its good to see him back - this coming from a Canucks fan, but thats because we don't play the Oilers again until April! But I don't know how eager he'll be to fight again so soon - but then again, what the hell else are they keeping him for? He seems crazy enough that he'd probably drop the gloves with just about anyone, no matter how soon he's coming back from injury - he knows what got him to the NHL....

Tough break afor the Oilers regarding Hemsky - he gets hurt a lot, but thats because he's not afraid to go into the danger zones or high traffic areas, and guys on the other team take runs at him regularily. Neutralize Hemsky, you have a good chance of beating Edmonton. Anyhow, if he's out of the lineup for a long period of time, that will hurt the Oilers playoff chances big time. Others will have to step up (cough, Erik Cole, cough cough, Dustin Penner).

Why the hell didn't I pick up BigMac last night for my PIM team when I had the chance? I really hope this kid is here to stay. He's got a good attitude and has had some spectacular fights but he does have a lot to live up to. Go get em Steve!

i would assume Mac will still be out of the fighting game for a bit. if he's not he's ****in crazy to wanna take a punch this soon.

I am sure he wouldn't be activated if he wasn't healthy enough to fight. Isn't like he brings much else to the table.

Mac Is back....... FUuk yeah. good to see, with Mac, Struds, Storts, Souray, and Moreau in shold play the body ven a bit harder and keep up the gritty play. i hope Cole, penner and even Brodz can can pick up some of the slack
