I am not complaining because I like Z and don't think the hit was that big of a deal but if that would have been Gillies, he would have been done for the year. It was or looked a lot worse that Gillies hit on Buttercup. At most, both Gillies and Z should have been given only 2 mins for interference.

this is what sperates teh boys from the men. this is not the NFL or NBA its the NHL you play hockey knowing its a physical game and you can and most likely get injured in yoru career of playing. kuddos for the NHL to keep hockey a tough sport. if you want fines and players that wear panties go play some football in the NFL

Tell that to Oscar Bartulis... Seriously, how do some of you people think? I know we don't want to see every hit suspended, but in a case where very recently you gave 2 games to a player who made a shoulder to shoulder check when the puck was right there. Now how do you warrant giving NOTHING to the giant 6'9" Vag when he makes a hockey play when the puck is nowhere near?? This hit was suspendable, you will NEVER see Lidstrom resort to this, you can't stop him there, get to him in front of the net.

EDIT: I probably wouldn't have as much of a problem with this hit if they were battling out for the puck and this was the end result however.

So if the same happens to a Bruins player and the same garbage decision is reached, you're just going to sit there with your mouth shut...right? I didn't think so...

"I also took into consideration that Chara has not been involved in a supplemental discipline incident during his 13-year NHL career." So once again the league is showing that is suspends a player based on WHO he is, not WHAT WAS DONE..so Gillies gets 10 games for a borderline hit with no real injury because of WHO he is..this is why this subjective discipline is RUINING hockey and makes the NHL look like a minor league operation..you have a STANDARD for penalties and you base them on the INCIDENT, not who committed it...so what the NHL is saying is that if Gillies hit Pacioretty Gillies WOULD have been suspended...the NHL needs a change before this farce becomes the new WWE with its pre determined results..I'm not saying whether Chara should or shouldn't be suspended...I'm just pointing out the NHL has no standards or written rules regarding suspensions..its purely made up, on the fly...this is why the NHL is dead last amongst the pro sports..they look like a Mickey Mouse run league

The best part about this moronic decision is that the media in North america will have a field day at the inconsistant rulings handed down by the NHL nitwits and Bettman and Campbell will still come out looking like the jackasses that they are.

keep telling yourself that and believing it.. you're buying in to the Bettman message...

As I predicted, the Flyers fans are belly aching and the Habs fans aren't. Ironic...

To set the record straight, I did think that Chara would be suspended and am surprised that he wasn't. What should I do though? Complain? I, for one, am sick of the NHL handing out suspensions every couple of days. They're turning the league into the f*cking ice capades. Would I feel differently if it were a player for my team that got hurt? Probably. At least I'm honest.

Good. If the Habs have a problem with the hit they are free to try and get some payback next game.
