Nick Boynton Suspended One Regular Season Game
 

TORONTO – Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Nick Boynton has been suspended for one game for making a throat slashing gesture towards Tampa Bay Lightning player Blair Jones during NHL pre-season game #11 on Wednesday, Sept. 22.

Under the terms of the Collective Bargaining Agreement, and based on his average annual salary, Boynton will forfeit $2,688.17. The money goes to the Players’ Emergency Assistance Fund.

The incident occurred at 13:04 of the second period. He was assessed a game misconduct (Rule 75.5) for his actions.

Boynton will miss the Blackhawks’ season opener at Colorado on October 7.

This is a joke. One has to wonder where the NHL is getting this sh1t from....seriously. And there a few things about this fight. Boynton got smoked and was bloddied, then just had a couple words to say. We can all find similar examples with no suspension granted. Are the Front offices trying to make a point...? Probably, but this one plain made me laugh. Word has it that Boynton got his nose broken- Chicago write ups. I'll try to find em' and get them out to you guys asap. But again...'Gong Show!'

i wouldn't worry about it. It was flagrant. He did the gesture and clearly said "you're fuc!ing dead"... The camera was close up on him as he skated to the box...

He can defnitely play in the show for the Hawks, but as a 3rd/4th pairing. He has that Chicago spirit-grit, plays 100% every shift, and is willing to give er' when need be. Heard he was a great guy in the limited games he played, in the lockeroom. He can play for me anyday!

meh I don't mind seeing some personality. I mean if he was giving him the finger or something I understand. But to show some passion and emotion, that's what's entertaining.
