NHL disciplinary hearings for Koci, Ruutu results in fines

Quote:
A pair of National Hockey League disciplinary hearings has resulted in fines, but not suspensions.

David Koci of the Colorado Avalanche has been fined for his hit on Washington Capitals defenceman Mike Green, while Ottawa Senators winger Jarkko Ruutu has been fined for his hit on Buffalo Sabres' Patrick Kaleta.

Koci, who averages 3 minutes 7 seconds of ice time per game, lined up Green and delivered a shoulder in between the neck and shoulder blade area of Green's jersey. Green did not see Koci coming and his visor smashed into the seamless glass at Pepsi Center.

Green, who had to be helped off the ice, was knocked woozy and left bleeding above his left eye.

Koci was assessed five minutes for boarding, five minutes for fighting after being engaged by Green's teammate John Erskine, and a game misconduct.

Ruutu received a game misconduct for boarding Kaleta in the opening minute of the second period of Wednesday's contest. Ruutu drove Kaleta's head into the glass and the Sabres pest needed to be helped off the ice.

Boudreau isn't going to be pleased.

Ruutu should win the Lady Bing for what he did.

Wow, I'm pleasantly suprised. Thought for sure they were gonna give Koci some games. Way to stick it to Boudreau too! Haahaha Fat Man isn't gonna be able to sleep tonight.

I'm shocked they didn't suspend Koci...... happy, but shocked. I thought for sure because of who did the hitting and who got hit it would be 2-4 games at least. Gotta love it they didn't give him anything.

I've said it a thousand times the new breed of player turns toward the glass when handling the puck to avoid getting hit. Thats just plain BS!! Defend yourself at all times.... don't rely on the rules, the ref or the league to do it for you.

I like Boudreau and the Caps but I don't like the fact they don't have a heavy to level the field.

Why is it that a guy like Ruutu continually gets away with hits like that?

Both guys are pretty lucky, if you ask me. They must have caught Campbell on a good week.

Campbell must know that his flowchart was leaked. He's just trying to prove that the flowchart isnt really how he makes his decisions.

EDIT: Boudreau- "Wow, I'm not going to comment."

I watched Ruutu hit Kaleta and he only got a 5 min boarding not a game misconduct...and it really pissed me off that he skated around the whole 3rd period and nobody did anything to him....Mair,Rivet and Montador really disappointed me in that game....Sabres are a bunch of Pu$$y's anyway...can't believe I stay a fan of this team..but we have been playing good hockey
