Will Brookbank actually get an opportunity with the Devils?

I'm not really sure why they snagged him. The defense has 7capable guys unless White's eye injury got worse and he's going on the IR. Maybe they want more toughness for Lowell.

Can he play the wing on the fourth line at all? I was thinking about this because Cam is out for a while so maybe he was brought in to be the enforcer for a bit.

GREAT move by the Devils. Wow!

Sheldon Brookbank is a very tough customer, and he's a pretty good fighter, not to mention he can actually play the game as well. Great pickup.

He will likely play in Lowell, but at least that will make NJ's AHL team tougher. I really like this move. Good job snagging him off of waivers.... very exciting player to watch.

I bet the Blue Jackets are really bummed that he didn't clear.

I was thinking the same thing when I read the title. With Cam being out for a while, if not the year (depending on the severity of his shoulder issue), I wonder if this is a move to sure up the toughness on the team and provide the squad with a guy that can fight just about anyone.

Not trying to bust your balls but don't being a tough customer and a pretty good fighter go hand in hand. It's like saying a guy who is heavy handed is ALSO a knockout artist. Do agree it is a good pick up and I think the devils know there is just to much beef in the east to not have some protection around.

Colin White was placed on injured reserve, and Brookbank is listed on the Devils roster. It'll be great if he makes it into the lineup over Rachunek and Mottau.

Great news. He is a top #2 fighter who can play 1 line in the AHL or some ice time in the nhl.

Columbus would just re-claim him like the Pilar situation with Atlanta and Chicago.

Yeah I didn't realize how good a d-man he was until I read more about him. I definitely think he'll stick with NJ and he's gotta be better than Mike Mottau.

i'd surmise that he is definitely there to fill an enforcing role on the team. i have to admit that i don't know jack squat about him(except that he's big and has an older brother) but if he can actually play well, he'll be out there.

Lou has hardly ever let his team go out without a designated enforcer, and with fighting being up(especially in our preseason games with Philly) he wants someone able to drop the gloves out there.

Voted as the best D-man in the AHL last year, he really deserves a shot at the NHL.
