Nathan Horton Has A "Mild Concussion"

Quote:

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Nathan Horton didn’t finish Sunday’s game with the Philadelphia Flyers after falling victim to a head shot from Flyers winger Tom Sestito in the second period. Bruins general manager Peter Chiarelli confirmed on Monday that Nathan Horton had suffered a “mild concussion” and was doubtful for Tuesday night’s game against the Washington Capitals at the Verizon Arena.

“I don’t have an official update other than I think it’s a ‘mild concussion’ from what I saw and heard last night – and talking to him today. These things are day-to-day so I’d say he’s day-to-day. He’s in that gray area between taking the impact testing and see how it is the next day and the following day. Then you make a determination. He’s in that gray area right now.”

I expected this one to be reviewed but not a word about it.
The replay of the hit made it look like a shoulder to the head.

Best part is the Flyers ended up with the power play!

Sestito took a dive for that penalty as well. He knew Thornton was coming. I'm not worried at all about the league not reviewing this. There is obviously a c-o-n-spiracy afoot (wink wink). I hope that Sestito is still around when the two teams meet again. It would be interesting to see what happens. If a thornton or Lucic-even Horton-go after him, that's all the enforcing i need. i don't need shanahan to be my enforcer.

I was wondering why Horton didn't seem too eager to drop the gloves after going way out of his way to retaliate.

Where do you see a dive?

It looked to me like he knew Horton was coming and went right down with the hit. Maybe I'm wrong but it looked like he was trying to draw the call.

I'm not saying he wouldn't pull something like that (he is a pest trapped in a heavyweight's body), but Horton absolutely hit him with enough force to knock him off his feet. I think even if he didn't fall the refs would have given a penalty to Horton for doing something that blatant. Sestito got right back up and into the scrum so I don't think he was that worried about Thornton coming for him either.

Anyways, if we are calling out perceived dives...after watching some of the hits that game, I think Kelly was guilty of a highly embellished Carcillo-esque head snap on that hit from Hartnell.

The Kelly hit is a little more debatable to me. He was caught from the blind side and I've seen the same kind of head snap in the past from an unexpected jolt like that. I can see someone thinking there was some embellishing there, though. I don't think he did myself but I can see why some might think that.

I thought the Sestito hits and the hartnell hits were a little high but not dirty or to the head. The schenn hit was a monster and clean. no suspension for Sestito and hopefully the bruins are in payback mode next game. maybe Thornton-Sestito or Lucic-Sestito rd.2? That'd be nice.

I could care-less, I love the hitting and i am all for No Suspensions ever. Life goes on it is Unfort. for Horton, but as a Bruin fan i do not want a Suspension. not do i ever from another team, What comes around goes around.

F*ck me, not another one. Pt. 3

chilly666 01-24-2012 08:08 PM

shouldn't it be Pt. 100 by now ;)

Gunslinger 01-24-2012 08:12 PM

Yes. Sadly. And its time I got some new material.:D

I don't know, seems pretty docile so far guys. Don't ruin the tranquility.

I'm surprised this hit wasn't reviewed by the league. It seemed like a poor man's Cooke on Savard hit. Coming from the blind side and targeting the head. I guess since Bruins brass didn't throw a temper tantrum and claim that Horton has a severe concussion, it doesn't get any attention.

Oh well. This guarantees a Thornton vs Sestito bout next time they play.
