Nashville Predators Agree to Terms With Mark Eaton and Sheldon Brookbank

Nashville, Tenn. - Nashville Predators Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has agreed to terms with unrestricted free-agent defensemen Mark Eaton and Sheldon Brookbank.

Eaton, 28 (5/6/77), established a Nashville franchise record with a +16 rating in 2003-04 and posted NHL career-highs in games played (75), goals (4), assists (9) and points (13). The Wilmington, Del. native averaged 20:56 of ice time, more than two minutes more than his previous career high (18:17 in 1999-00). In Nashville's first-ever Stanley Cup playoff series, Eaton averaged 19:51 of ice time and appeared in all six playoff games.

The 6-2, 208-pound blueliner has 41 points (12g-29a) in 217 games with the Predators over four seasons (2000-04). Eaton was originally acquired by Nashville from Philadelphia for Detroit's third-round selection in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft (previously acquired, Philadelphia selected Patrick Sharp) on September 29, 2000.

In 2004-05, Eaton notched three goals and three assists (3g-3a-6pts) in 29 games with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League.

Brookbank, 24 (10/3/80), ranked third on the Cincinnati Mighty Ducks (AHL) in penalty minutes (181) in 2004-05. The 6-2, 210-pound Lanigan, Sask. native, brother of former Predator Wade Brookbank, also posted one goal and 11 assists (1g-11a-12pts) in 60 AHL games.
