Minnesota Wild Buys Out Mark Parrish
SAINT PAUL/MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - Minnesota Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has bought out the remaining three years of forward Mark Parrish’s contract.
Parrish, 31 (2/2/77), recorded 69 points (35-34=69) in 142 games during two seasons with the Wild. The Bloomington, Minn.-native recorded his fifth career hat trick including the game-winner in overtime against Chicago (12/9/06) and served as team captain three times with the team, February (2007), March/April (2007) and December (2007). Parrish has notched 372 points (208-164=372) including 69 power play goals and 37 game-winning tallies in 660 games during nine NHL seasons with Florida, the New York Islanders, Los Angeles and Minnesota. The Wild originally signed him to a five-year contract on July 1, 2006. Following the buyout, Parrish becomes an unrestricted free agent and can sign with any other NHL team. |

Great community guy to have on the team, in his home state.
Nothing but the best for Parry, who will end up with another club within a day or two I'm sure. Not sure why the team didn't wait for the season to start and then trade him for a draft pick to not have to deal with his salary at all... makes no sense how the team went about this. I'd gladly take Parrish back, but I don't think Snow's looking to bring in anyone else. That, and I actually think he might sufficiently improve the team to hurt our chances of winning the draft lottery.
Parrish is a hell of a team guy who gives it his all every shift. He'll get scooped up quick.
