Good for Minni. I like both players and I like minni, kinda...

I thought one would go there, never thought both would...

That's lots of money though.

Cool! I adopted Minny as my number 2 team about 5 years ago (they are the closest thing to a hometown team for me) so I'm glad to see they are looking to be more competitive. Was Ryan Suter really worth all the fuss this off season though?

By losing Parise, that loss is going to hurt the Devils, big time.

Exactly what I was thinkiing. He had a lot of obscurity playing in Nashville and being the #2 behind Weber but now he's in the spotlight as the #1 in Minn.

We shall see but this looks like short term gain for the Wild in getting the two prized FA this year but with long term pain down the road.

I am happy for the Wild and their fans.

The team picked up two quality players that can bring a lot to the team. But, this is a bit much:
"Both deals are worth $98 million over 13 years, carrying an average annual value of $7.538 million"

You have to have cap room to sign your supporting cast of players, once you become successful. Ask the Hawks.

The new CBA may have a maximum number of years on a deal. Maybe 8 seems fair. 13 is crazy, but congrats Wild fans. Team just got a lot better.

Now Nashville and New Jersey have some money to spend.

Matt Carle to Nashville?

Alex Semin to Jersey?

Obviously, but its not the end of the world. IMO Parise is a solid and valuable player but he's not worth this contract. I can guarantee Lou made an offer in the $6.5 million per year range which is what I think he's worth at most.

He had an opportunity to take a hometown discount, be the face of the franchise and play for a team thats always a contender. Instead he chased the money, wanted to be with his butt buddy Suter, wanted to be in his hometown where he built a home while playing for a team that is far from being a contender and will have an extremely tough time becoming one with those 2 huge contracts. So be it.

It'll be interesting to see what the Devils do now as the dominoes fall. Times like these are when I'm really thankful that Lou is my favorite teams GM.

Alot of lower classed players just got richer today due to the fact some teams are way off the salary cap floor and are going to be forced to pay them more then they are worth to get there.

I see guys like Carle, Semin and way lesser players hitting the lotto today or tomorrow.

Kidd must be ecstatic. If Parise and Suter were gonna leave their teams, I'm glad it's Minnesota.

As for NJ it hurts but they'll survive. Losing Niedermayer and Stevens was worse to me.

frankly, i'm glad the Hawks missed on both. two talented players, no doubt, but a lot of money for a ridiculous amount of time.

the Wild did succeed in making people talk though. gotta respect that. i've gotten several texts from people barely interested in hockey. I guess a couple big signings will do that for you. so from that perspective, good for the Wild. they need something to be excited about in the state of hockey.

still glad it wasn't the Hawks though. i've already been through a huge salary cap mess and it sucks dick.
