Milan Lucic Suspended One Game

TORONTO - Boston Bruins' forward Milan Lucic has been suspended for one game as a result of a blow to the head in Game Two of the Eastern Conference Quarterfinal series last night against the Montreal Canadiens.

Lucic was assessed a match penalty for highsticking Montreal forward Maxim Lapierre at 15:28 of the third period.

"While it is unclear whether Lucic's glove or stick makes contact with Lapierre, what is clear is that he delivered a reckless and forceful blow to the head of his opponent," said NHL Senior Executive Vice President of Hockey Operations Colin Campbell.

Lucic's suspension will be served on Monday night when the Bruins meet the Canadiens in Game Three of the series.

Not really. Bitz will be a good replacement for a game.

Doubt he'll get suspended. If they let Kosto's flying elbow go they should let this go. I mean, it's all about "letting the game unfold" right Mr. Campbell?

Either way, Bitz replacing Lucic for 1 game won't be the end of the world.

Lucicīs nerve donīt consider again and hit attacking Lapierre for cross-checking come one game traditional suspension? If hit, hit fist, because address is very attractive. Honest fight is better than hurt others players.

Even without Lucic the Habs are done. Homosarek is looking like his usually "heroic"(or should I say homoerotic?)self and the Habs look like they would lose to a pee-wee girls team. Considering Komi's eye gouging and jumping guys from outside the scrum, Habs fans are the last people to complain about cheap plays. And yes, I realize my Flyers are not looking any better than the Habs. Perhaps they can book tee times together.

Unless of course its a Canadian team celebrating its one hundredth anniversary, then its probably Buttman and Cambell to their rescue. Expect something dumb to come out of this.

If Carcillo got a game for barely making contact Lucic is going to sit for AT LEAST 1. That changes the intensity of Game 3. Even with Bitzy-Cat in it won't be the same. I did respect LaPerriere's statement, he's not whining.

But losing Lucic for a 5 minute fighting major would be devestating according to some Bruin fans, well, at least it is bad if the major is against a heavy. How will they possibly play a whole game without him?

At least the B's will lose him against a team they will have no problem beating in the next 2.

They'll give Milan "Dave Brown" Lucic 3 games I reckon, just to ensure he avoids the rest of the Habs series. Forget what mm of glove or stick connected first, two hands firmly on stick, arms extended, cross check to the head!

Apparently the initial call was a game misconduct and the refs changed it to a match penalty after the game.

it was. guess they wanted an excuse to suspend him. not that the league needed one, the crosscheck was enough for a 1 gamer

Was it just me or were some Bruin's fans booing Lucic last night when he carried the puck? Anyone else catch that? Can any Bruins fans tell me why?
