Again, it was a predatory hit, it was a foot race for a puck, no one had possesion. Therefore Chara's hit was illegal, took him purposely into the boards. Go back and look up what the NHL'ers said about the hit. Your opinion is baseless.

I will say it for a THIRD TIME, there was and is no rule on the books about sending a player into the stanchion.

"A boarding penalty will be assessed for a hit on a defenseless player that causes the victim to hit or impact the boards violently or dangerously. The new wording requires the player delivering the check to avoid or minimize contact if his opponent is defenseless. It also allows the referee discretion to determine whether the recipient of the contact placed himself in a vulnerable position immediately prior to or simultaneously with the collision and whether the check was unavoidable.

A penalty for an illegal check to the head will be assessed for a hit resulting in contact with an opponent's head where the head is targeted and the principal point of contact. The qualifying terms "lateral or blind side" for such hits have been deleted."

Pretty simple. Chara came up from behind/beside Pacioretty and rammed him into the glass while Gill stepped in front of Sim who was coming toward him then Sim tried to beat him inside where there was no place to go. They are about as similar as McSorely slashing Brashear and Ulfie kneeing Neely.

No one is crying about anything. I just pointed out that Chara ran interference on Max, guiding him into the stantion. Should have been a suspension, and this year it would have been. (Gill and Sim I don't care about - that is another topic)

I understand in the rule books it does not state that you cannot run someone into the stantion. Guaranteed though, if it happens again like Chara did to Max, it will result in a suspension. It is a dangerous place to hit someone.

That says it all right there. Max was defenceless, and hit the stantion violently. Make no mistake , just because the word stantion is not there, does not mean it is and will not be considered dangerous.

It would have been an hockey play I think, like Steckel on Crosby. However I would have found it dirty. Blindsiding a player is pure cheap.

He had no choice but to be in that postion to chase the puck, therefore I don't find him culpable at all, infact if Chara was a faster skater, none of this would have happened. The owness is on Chara for the hit. Not on the player this time, for chasing the puck.

Maybe its my old eyes but when I watched the video of Max hitting Letang, I see Letang damn-near look at Max coming at him and then he does a big no-no, puts his head back down. Bang. Lights out.

Kind of odd that Letang is from Montreal.

I don't like to see the players get badly hurt but the injuries have always been there in the game. The game is faster than it was. Maybe because players have more speed now thanks to the interference calls. All I can tell you is the game isn't as exciting to watch as it was for me in "good old days" of the late 80s through early 2ks. Maybe the Charlestown Chiefs will be part of future expansions . . . .

I didn't mind Shanny when he was a Red Wing but it I don't like the fact it seems like he is kissing Bettman's ass and we know how much Bettman is loved. . . . .
