Mathieu Schneider Dealt to Phoenix
Vancouver, BC - Vancouver Canucks President and General Manager Mike Gillis announced today that the Canucks have acquired defenceman Sean Zimmerman and a 2010 conditional sixth-round draft selection from the Phoenix Coyotes in exchange for defenceman Mathieu Schneider.
Zimmerman, 22, has collected seven points (2-5-7) and 75 penalty minutes in 54 games with the San Antonio Rampage of the AHL. The Denver, CO, native won a bronze medal with Team USA at the 2007 World Junior Championships. The 6’3”, 205-pound defenceman was originally selected in the sixth round, 170th overall by the New Jersey Devils in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft.

Sportsnet.ca has it too. Not sure why Phoenix wants this guy after getting Morris. Have to wait and see why. So far bad move by the Yotes and if the Nucks get anything back, good move by them.

Apparantly a bad attitude as well!
Not sure what happened in Vancouver, but he sure pissed a lot of people off!

I will point out that the Mathieu Schneider "attitude problems" were blown out of proportion this year. The Vancouver media reported that he walked away from the team because he wasn't playing enough, but he accepted an assignment to the Moose with no complaints, which is pretty classy for a guy of his stature.

He had 1.55 million reasons to accept that assignment.

The supposed attitude problem was that he thought he was too good to be a 7th defenseman, and play behind guys like Shane O'Brien. To me, if that were true, he would have definitely made a big stink about being sent to the AHL. But he showed nothing but class down there, helping out our prospects and taking the assignment in stride.
I think this was just another case of the Vancouver media blowing another story way out of proportion, as they've done many times already this year.
